I have been to a pain clinic and i am told that the only pain killers i can take for my arthiritis is Co-proxomol but i am having trouble getting them off my Dr please can you tell me how much it is to purchase these painkillers from you and can you tell me how much they will cost I have been on these painkillers for the past 10 years and have tried different medication but to no avail and taking these painkillers help me at work as my job is very physical. having been crippled with Bu Trans patches 10 Micro gram, due to allergy to morphine and to a lesser extent codene,which would not have occured if the specilist had read my hospital notes, recording a similar reaction to morphine, after receiving multiple injuries, years ago,how can i purchase co proxamol which i managed to control pain with, my GP no longer supports this medication.

Yes you can still obtain Co-Proximal, some GP's will still prescribe it, my own GP will not, but my Gynaecologist will - you can also obtain it abroad via the internet. I have done this myself and it has been successful. Aternatively arrange appointments to see all the practices in your area, explain your situation to the Practice Manager and see if you can find another GP to take you on and prescribe for you.

Like many people I can no longer obtain co proxamol via my GP Prior to it's discontinuation I had been taking it responsibly for 20+ years. Alternatives offered do not work.
I am angry that the NHS have decided to withdraw this drug leaving me and many others to suffer all apparently because some idiots have overdosed. Can I by on line and at what cost?

Like the above comments, my GP refuses to prescribe Co-Proxamol. I have even offered to pay for a private prescription, but am still being refused, even though I took them responsibly for a quite a few years. My wife can still get co-proxamol via the GP, but we only seem to be able to get the non-coated version which makes her feel very ill. She used to get the film coated ones, such as distalgesic, which didn't give problems and worked very well.

It is NOT the case that GP's aren't able to prescribe Co-Proxamol - they can prescribe it on a "named patient" basis, but many choose not to do. My wife is unfortunate to have pretty bad RA, but at least is fortunate enough to have a GP who understands that the alternatives are not suitable for everyone and continues to prescribe Co-Proxamol for her.

I suggest anyone with the problem gets back to their GP and makes him very aware that they don't enjoy a life of unnecessary pain.

One problem is that only one or two brands are now available and as far as we can find, none of the film coated ones, such as Distalgesic are available My wife finds that the non-coated ones upset her stomach. We have worked out that a reasonable solution is to get a load of gel capsules and put the Co-Proxamol tablets inside - it delays the absorbtion and works quite well.

Can you help me to find a stockist of coproxamol. I have had severe rheumatoid arthritis for 25 years and have now used up all the boxes I had.
Nothing else works for me.
