Primulex is freely soluble in water. Primulex is used to treat Parkinson's disease, a disease associated with low levels of dopamine in your brain. The question how really Selegiline works is not known but it is believed to prevent the breakdown of dopamine in your brain. After levedopa or carbidopa therapy begins to deteriorate, selegiline is usually added to a treatment regimen. Why is Selegiline prescribed? Primulex is mainly used to handle the stiffness, tremors, spasms, and poor muscle control of Parkinson's disease. It can be used as monotherapy in the early phases of the disease and as adjunctive therapy with levodopa. Primulex is also used to handle some muscular conditions that are caused by certain drugs such as Chlorpromazine (Thorazine), Fluphenazine (Prolixin), Perphenazine (Trilafon), and other more. Primulex can also be used to some purposes not stated here. Dosage and administration Follow the prescription of your doctor if you are to take Primulex. You may also ask your pharmacist or nurse about things you do not understand. Take each dose with full glass of water. Follow your doctor's prescription. This medication is usually taken twice a day, at breakfast and lunch. Do not take larger dosage than are given. It will have a greater and sever effect on you. Selegiline is contraindicated for use with meperidine (Demerol and other trade names). This contraindication is often extended to other opioids. Special instructions Primulex belongs in the FDA pregnancy category C. It is unknown whether Selegiline will harm an unborn baby.
