Hi:
I am taking Triferexx 150mg and was surprised it didn't have an "iron" or metal taste. Is this normal?

Hi Wayne, of course you didn't have this taste because iron there in non-metal ionic form in little quantity and even the active ingredient taste can been masked by other inactive components.

Sorry for taking so long in getting back to you, I lost this site. It's Just that I have taken iron pills before and they do have an "iron taste". My concern was that it had, what I would call a "garlic taste" when I first put in my mouth. My concern was that I was given the wrong pill. I even consulted my doctor who had a simple way of testing for iron and his test failed. Also I have been told that this is new and where I don't have medical insurance..I have to pay the full price. Also...I had a blood test later on I it showed my iron level LOWER than before I was taken the Triferexx 150mg. So If you were me and all of the above occured ...wouldn't you be suspecious that maybe you got the wrong pill? Wayne R. Comeau

Wayne -- where are you located? If you're in Canada or the US, have you tried a heme iron polypeptide called Proferrin? It doesn't taste funny at all, haha.
The absorption for this new product is supposed to be fantastic --- your body absorbs it so well that really, all that is needed, is just one tablet a day, and they are claiming no side effects (constipation, etc) because it is heme.

Is it safe to take Triferexx for 2 years or more? Will this cause any side effects if I take for a long time.
Please advise....

My doctor has prescribe me with Triferexx 150 because of my iron deficiency. I bought the aforesaid medicine to use it in order to get rid of iron deficiency. Before using the medicine I went through its ingredients where I found there is a Gelatin in it which is not allowed by our religion to use because it is not Halal.
Please clarify about this ingredient Gelatin. Is it a pork or other animal bi-product? Thanks, Obeid |
